Today we talked about a few more holidays around the world and Senora played a video talking about Christmas in Mexico.  It told about Las Posadas, Christmas, and The Three Kings Day.  Then we had to do some business-we took a Math test and a Social Studies Quiz.  All of that was topped off with a school sing along and our party. I will try to post pictures of that soon.

Homework:

I will be correcting Math tests, final narratives, and Social Studies Quizzes over break, so expect those to come home to be signed the week we come back to school.

When I click on a person using my phone, the kids don't know who it is for, but it makes a small ding or "uh oh" sound through the smartboard.  Sometimes during workshop time this noise tends to make some kids refocus.  We will see how it works and I will let you know how it is going.

10-9-12

Today a large protion of the class had a really hard time with following rules. I am not sure if it was the rain or what. We have had indoor recess twice before, and my class behaved nicely. Today, at least half of the class was running around and using the document camera on my computer-they all know that they shouldnot be by my desk or computer during indoor recess. I still have some students telling the supervisors they do not need to listen to them because they are not their mother or teacher.
I find this very disrespectful behavior.  Please talk to your child about how to behave for any adult at BDM. I have a Guest Teacher tomorrow because I am in a meeting. Mrs. McKnight was here the last time, so she knows the students and they know her. I am expecting exceptional behavior for her tomorrow.

9-28-12

Today we had a productive day in all subjects.  The one place that we had some issues was at lunch. I had reports of students spitting-I think in the commons.  I discussed how spitting, especially at people, is highly inappropriate in school or beyond.  The other issue is lining up with line basics after lunch recess. The supervisors told me that some kids were making comments liek they were 5th graders and didn't need to follow the rules, or they couldn't line up in line basics. Please discuss these issues with your child. If they are not involved, helping them to know how to be a positive leader in class would be helpful to me!
