Today we got to see the HS band, swing choir, and orchestra in a concert after lunch.  The 5th grade did a wonderful job of using concert etiquette!

Tomorrow we have a sing-along at 9am with the entire school, and then our winter party at 2:00.

The class, for the most part, was behaved for the Guest Teacher that was in my room on Monday and Tuesday while I was at Math training.

Our winter party will be held at 2 pm on Friday. There will be a school sing along at 9 on Friday, and the High School musicians are coming to play a concert Thursday at 1.

Math: practice facts

Reading: read 20 minutes, practice fun spelling words.

Other: bring in gift for exchange-it is due now.  Bring in food etc for the party.

Today we watched part of a video on Pearl Harbor because it was the anniversary of this historic event this past Saturday.

Today we met with our first grade pals and made holiday cards to send over to US troops serving our country.

Math: if you didn't do last night's homework-answering one of the questions we glued into our Math notebook, do that over the weekend.

Reading: Read 20 minutes. Finish your adventure book. Finish your family tradition rough draft if you haven't yet.

Other:  Maplewood Music Slip due.  Afterbeat sheets due by the 20th.  Gift exchange gift due 12-18 $3-$5.  I need more big needles for yarn-the bigger the better!  We are starting our project on Monday.

Happy Birthday Malina!  Thanks for the yummy cupcakes you brought for the class.  Today we talked about how the windchill was below zero, so it is important to wear your winter clothing!

Math: return signed Unit 3 Math test.  Do one written problem in your notebook for tomorrow.

Reading: Read 20 minutes. Finish your adventure book if you didn't already. Finish writing your rough draft of a winter family tradition.  You can type it in Google Drive and share it with me if you want.

Our class won the Spanish Award (Sombrero) and the Music Award (Fancy Recorder) this week. These are traveling trophies given to classes that have followed the Eagle Way. We have also received the Art and Phy Ed awards different weeks!

Today we spent time in the computer lab, Library, and Spanish class.  Look at your child's agenda for the learning targets for the day.

PBIS Lesson

11-18-13

Today we sang a song about commas set to the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. We might make a video of us singing it after we practice more.  We also talked about what a protagonist in a story is, and focused on subtracting whole and decimal numbers in Math.

We also got a visit from the Maplewood music department. I will send home the option form for music choices tomorrow.  These need to be filled out and signed ASAP!

Reading: Read 20 minutes

Other: Show your parents the learning targets you wrote in your agenda.

Today my dad, Mr. Neebel, came to talk to the class for Veterans Day-a day late. The class was very well-behaved and asked great questions. They also did a great job helping out at the Veterans Day assembly yesterday.

Today we typed some thank you letters to veterans in the computer lab. We will be giving them out at our assembly on Monday.  We also got ready to read some books about Veterans Day to our 1st grade pals tomorrow. We are teaming up with Mrs. Uecker's class to do activities a few times a month.

Reading: 20 minutes, Veterans Day Oral history, stars for the assembly.

Math: None

Other: popcorn Friday, red, white, and blue day on Monday, family math and literacy night tonight from 4:45-7:30.  If you RSVPd, you can come for the food, if not, you can still come for the activities.

We are done with WKCE testing!!!!  Now we just have to wait until Friday to see who wins the grand prize in our raffle!

Happy November!  We celebrated El Dia Los Muertes (day of the Dead) in Spanish class today. We also had an assembly telling us about a reward raffle that we will be doing for the WKCE tests next week.

Reading: read poem and get signed

Social Studies: study study guide and get signed-quiz on Monday

Other: set clocks back an hour before bedtime on Saturday (Daylight Savings), get sleep Sunday night in preparation for WKCE. Bring water bottle-gum if you want.

Today we had a nice time in Library reading and helping Mrs. Leonard out. She gave us a class e-ticket for our good behavior!  We also finished reading the book Wonder in read aloud. Ask you child about this book. The message is very powerful!
