Today we practiced our speeches in class with a partner. It will help to bring a stopwatch or a timer to school for the next two weeks.

Students will have to practice at home as well. I have a sheet that needs to be signed three times this week, and three times next week.

A reminder-students should not be wearing shorts or flip flops to school. Shorts can only be worn starting in May, or if the weather is above 80 degrees. Flip flops are not good for running etc, so they are never allowed at school.

reciting pi to 1,000 places

3-14-12

Happy pi day! (3.14) We learned that pi is the circumference of a circle divided by the diameter of a circle. It is an infinite number that keeps going without an end. Some people memorize it for 1,000 or more places! I will put a video we watched on my blog-it is amazing!

3-2-12

Today we celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday by reading Horton Hears a Who, then watching the short cartoon version, and the feature length movie (this was our reward for getting 10 class e-tickets). It was interesting to compare the three-mostly as the versions got longer, more details could be added. The author's message stayed the same in all three. Ask your child what they think the author's message was.

We are getting a new student on Monday-Welcome Erick!!!!
