Happy pi day! (3.14) We learned that pi is the circumference of a circle divided by the diameter of a circle. It is an infinite number that keeps going without an end. Some people memorize it for 1,000 or more places! I will put a video we watched on my blog-it is amazing!
We took our Math test for Unit 6 today. We also finished our weather books in reading and started to put our speech information onto note cards.

Today we had a Focus on Character Friday at BDM. This was the first time we have had one of these days to focus on character. Today we focused on bullying and being kind. The kids made posters for their lockers, got into groups and made posters to put around the school, and got to watch the movie Chicken Little in the commons and eat popcorn! (Thanks PTO!)
The kids had a lot of fun. Ask them what they liked about today.

Today we celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday by reading Horton Hears a Who, then watching the short cartoon version, and the feature length movie (this was our reward for getting 10 class e-tickets). It was interesting to compare the three-mostly as the versions got longer, more details could be added. The author's message stayed the same in all three. Ask your child what they think the author's message was.
