Today it was coooooold outside!  Remember that when there is snow on the grass, you need boots and snowpants to go out onto the field or equipment.

Today we had to remind a lot of the class about what to wear in freezing weather. Please check your child's agenda for a slip saying what they were missing.  Let me know if you need help getting these supplies.

Our class won the Spanish Award (Sombrero) and the Music Award (Fancy Recorder) this week. These are traveling trophies given to classes that have followed the Eagle Way. We have also received the Art and Phy Ed awards different weeks!

Today we spent time in the computer lab, Library, and Spanish class.  Look at your child's agenda for the learning targets for the day.

Homework:

Math: None

Reading: 20 minutes, sort words, finish newspaper typing in Google Drive tonight

Other: Maplewood music slip due!

Today we learned more about using commas after yes and no at the beginning of a sentence.  We also moved desks around at the end of the day.

Homework: Math: study for test pgs 55-56 in workbook

Reading: 20 minutes, sort spelling

Other: normal start tomorrow, return Maplewood music sheets.

PBIS Lesson

11-18-13

Today we sang a song about commas set to the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. We might make a video of us singing it after we practice more.  We also talked about what a protagonist in a story is, and focused on subtracting whole and decimal numbers in Math.

We also got a visit from the Maplewood music department. I will send home the option form for music choices tomorrow.  These need to be filled out and signed ASAP!

Reading: Read 20 minutes

Other: Show your parents the learning targets you wrote in your agenda.

Today my dad, Mr. Neebel, came to talk to the class for Veterans Day-a day late. The class was very well-behaved and asked great questions. They also did a great job helping out at the Veterans Day assembly yesterday.

Reading: read 20 minutes, Veterans Day oral history, Battle of the Books slip due Monday.

Other: Book order due Friday, late start Wed.

Today we typed some thank you letters to veterans in the computer lab. We will be giving them out at our assembly on Monday.  We also got ready to read some books about Veterans Day to our 1st grade pals tomorrow. We are teaming up with Mrs. Uecker's class to do activities a few times a month.

Homework:

Reading: 20 minutes, Veterans Day Oral history, stars for the assembly.

Math: None

Other: popcorn Friday, red, white, and blue day on Monday, family math and literacy night tonight from 4:45-7:30.  If you RSVPd, you can come for the food, if not, you can still come for the activities.

We are done with WKCE testing!!!!  Now we just have to wait until Friday to see who wins the grand prize in our raffle!

Homework:

Reading: 20 minutes, Veterans Oral History (optional) due next week, fill out Veterans stars for Monday's assembly.

Today we finished our second day of WKCE testing.  The students are doing a great job!  Tomorrow is our final day of testing! Get rest and eat well in preparation!

Math: HWK 2.7-we did it in class, but they can bring it home to check.

Fall Party

11-1-13

Happy November!  We celebrated El Dia Los Muertes (day of the Dead) in Spanish class today. We also had an assembly telling us about a reward raffle that we will be doing for the WKCE tests next week.

Reading: read poem and get signed

Social Studies: study study guide and get signed-quiz on Monday

Other: set clocks back an hour before bedtime on Saturday (Daylight Savings), get sleep Sunday night in preparation for WKCE. Bring water bottle-gum if you want.
