Mother's Day Projects

Today we had a fire drill in the morning. The class did a great job being at level zero!  We also worked on our muppet comparison writings and had some silent reading time.

Homework:

Science: finish data at home-we will work on posters and packets in class.

Trestle Trail note with lunch choice due Wed.

Track Meet



5-16-12

Today we had our Track Meet in the morning. Our class behaved well and had fun!  We had a later lunch and recess when we got back.  We also worked on our spring writing assessment.  Please return the permission slips for the car show walking field trip on Friday. If I don't have that slip, your child will stay behind with another 5th grade class.

Look for the Tundra Lodge slip to come home in the next few days.  After our sucker sale, we only have to pay $10 each for the trip instead of $18!!!!  Thanks to all parents who donated suckers to sell!!!

Homework:

Science: Have all materials at school including a poster board. We are looking to finish those things all at school in the next few days.

Other:
Yearbooks still on sale for $13 each at lunchtime. $5 for any old yearbooks you would like to purchase.

Today we worked on our Muppet timelines and did some multiplication with fractions.  Trent shared a cool live Eagle's nest cam online-I put the link in the list of links on my blog.  Check it out!

Today we had a play in the morning about saving energy. Ask your child to tell you what they learned.

It is very important to send all supplies that your child needs for their Science Fair project to school on Monday. That also includes a poster or presentation board.

Today we learned abuot the history of the Muppets.  We are compiling some dates and information to use to make a timeline.  We also filled out some memories of grades past in school for Mrs. Hess to possibly use in her slide show.

Homework:

Math: Study practice test at home tonight and get it signed. Test tomorrow

Science: get materials and poster board together for Monday. Finish all pages we did in class and get them signed and edited.

Today we finsihed Unit 8 in Math. We will be doing a review tomorrow and taking the test on Friday.  We also went through the second half of our Science Fair packet in preparation for next week.

Today we finished our last MAP test for Language Usage. You will eventually get their results in the mail.  We also powered through two Math lessons and worked on our Science Fair packets.

Science: get Background Paragraph edited and signed by a parent.  You need Materials and Procedure signed if you want to be able to test your project in class next week. Get together your materials and posterboard for next week.

Other:
Talent show narrator form due by Monday if interested.

Today we had our Reading MAP test in the morning. I was impressed with the growth of our class from Winter!

Lang Arts:  Bring RD Essay and Book Report signed for Monday or you will stay in at recess

Math: 8.1 and 8.2-new one is 8.3 for Monday

Science: Meet the Scientist page in packet edited in pen with a parent and signed at the bottom

Today we took our Math MAP test on the computer. It looked from first glance that most of the students did make some growth from winter to spring.  When MAP tests are all over, you will be getting something in the mail to show their progress from fall to spring.

Homework:

Math: Finish 8.1 and 8.2 if you didn't already

Lang Arts:  I still have some kids who don't have their RD essay and book report signed by a parent.  Please make sure those get finished and returned by tomorrow.

Science: your child finished the "Meet the Scientist" page in their Science Fair Packet-please help them edit it with a pen and then sign it at the bottom for tomorrow.

Other:

Popcorn Friday
Background check sheets due for Tundra chanperones
Fridge Note will go home tomorrow

Caine's Arcade

5-2-12

Today we worked more on finding Science Fair projects and printing out material about the procedures and information behind them. I will send home a note on Friday to be signed so you know what your child is doing. The Science Fair will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 6pm.  It is mandatory for students to be there and present their project.

We watched a video that Brad shared with us today in class. It is a good story about perseverance.  I will post it on my blog.  I also added a link to the Olympics page since that is happening soon in London.

Homework:

Lang Arts: many kids did not have their RD essay and RD book report edited and signed by a parent.  Please send these to school tomorrow.

Math: Homework 8.2 due tomorrow

Science: if you do not have a project, please continue to look up ideas at home. This is due Friday!

Happy May Day! Today we talked more about our Science Fair project ideas. Tonight kids are supposed to look on computers or in books to find some ideas. We are doing this in class also. By Friday I will send home their idea to be ok'd by parents. Check out the Steve Spangler Website on my blog links and Eepybird for some fun videos and ideas.

Homework:

Lang Arts: finish Rough drafts of essay and book report. Have a parent help check them over tonight and sign them on the bottom. These are due tomorrow.
