Thanks for the birthday snack today Jakeline! The class really enjoyed it! We took the last MAP test today for language usage. We will be getting the results soon.

REport cards went home today. I put the report cards plus a few other papers in a large envelope so they would get home safely. You can keep the report cards, but I n eed back two things signed. One it your child's reading project final grade, and one is a Math report of how they are doing with their math facts that needs to be filled out and signed. If you could return those two things as soon as possible in the large envelope, that would be great!

I will be sending home the Valentine's Day party note and the class name list on Monday so you can start preparing for that.

We had a productive half day today. We do have school tomorrow! Any homework from yesterday is the same for today if you didn't finish it.

Reading: read 20 minutes

Spelling:test tomorrow. Finish any corrections on your Spelling sentences because you will be handing those in with your test tomorrow.

Happy belated birthday to Brad-it was the 23rd. Thanks for the yummy cookie cake that you brought in to share with the class. Today we took our Reading MAPS computer testing. We took the Math portion yesterday. We will finish up on Monday with the Language usage part. You will eventually get a thing in the mail showing their scores from the fall and winter with a graph showing their progress.

Homework:

Lang ARts: Advertisements-we still need them!

Spelling: finish sentences and have an adult help you proofread them. If you get a parent signature I will give you an eticket tomorrow!

Math: make sure you are done with 5.12

At the end of the day we had an assembly with Mike McGowan talking to us about bullying. He is having a presentation for parents tonight at 6pm in the commons. Come if you can!!!!

Today we learned about the Pilgrims, who started the Plimouth Plantation in 1620, 13 years after Jamestown was started. We watched a video that took us to the living museum of Plimouth Plantation. We learned that kids stood when they ate at the table :)

Today we watched the entire Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have a Dream" speech. We followed along with a transcript, and stopped along the way to talk about what he meant with his words. He used a lot of imagery words to compare civil rights to things like a lonely island. Martin's birthday is January 15th.

Homework:

Reading: bring composition book to school for Monday if you didn't hand it in today.

Read 20 minutes

Math: finish Homework 5.8 for Monday
