Today we had pals and we played a card game called "Top It." It is like the game we all know as "War". We also learned about the Challenger disaster because today was the 25th anniversary of that sad event in our history. The class played Bingo and we got to use some extra Christmas gifts as prizes.

Homework:

Math: Study the test you took as a review in yoru book, and the paper multiple choice test we did for review today. We will take the Math test on Monday.

Spanish: practice your speech if you did not give yours yet.

Other: Return report card half sheets and purple sheets ASAP.

Today the class discussed how their practice on their Spanish speech is going. Students shared some comments adults gave them to make their speech even better. Practice tonight again to prepare for tomorrow!

We also went through my Science supplies to see if there were any for students to use for their Science Project. then we watched some Science project videos on a website that I added to my blog links-Steve Spangler Science.

Homework:

Spanish: Practice speeches for someone at home.

Science: Make sure "Meet the Scientist", "Essential Question and Hypothesis", and "Materials" pages are done in your packet. Have a parent check them all over for Spelling etc-they can initial the pages they have checked. Start thinking of any materials that you will need to buy or find at home.

Open Gym





1-25-11

Today students used a rubri to check an see if their small speeches in Spanish class are ready for Thursday. This is great practice for our upcoming speech unit we will do in class. Just a reminder that it will help for all students to have a stopwatch-nothing fancy-for this unit. You can send them to school and I will label them with their name and keep them safe.

Thanks to all of the kids who came out for Open Gym last night. It was fun as always!!!! Keep up the great work not watching TV or playing computer/video games this week!

Homework:

Science: Please check the "Meet the Scientist", "Essential Question and Hypothesis", and "Materials" pages in your child's Science Fair Packet. All of what they wrote is a rough draft in pen. Use a pencil or a different colored pen to help them make spelling corrections etc.

Social Studies: Current events due tomorrow.

Spanish: Practice Speech-they start on Thursday

Maplewood notes that I send home tonight need to be returned tomorrow!!!!

Today we watched a couple of cool videos on a website called Eepybird. It is on my links to the right side of my blog. It shows some Science experiments using Mentos and Diet Coke. We continued to look up Science Fair projects in class today. Feel free to help your child look up projects on the computer or at the library. Friday will be the day we all pick our finals and send them home to be ok'd and signed by parents.

Social Studies: color in the map on your Study Guide for tomorrow

This week is Miss Nussbaum's last week with us :( She will be finishing up her Social Studies Unit and I will be teaching everything else so she can observe other teachers etc.

We will be studying Martin Luther King Jr. this week. We will also be taking the mid-year writing assessment and start to work our way through MJSDs "no excuse" Spelling words. I will not be stapling lists into agendas, the students will have packets that we will be working through. I will have students highlight the words they get correct on the weekly tests.

Homework:

Math: finish homework 3-12 if you didn't in class

Spelling: we will continue testing on no excuse words tomorrow-so you don't need to study.

Science: be thinking of Science Fair Project ideas/and what question goes with it.

Please get the Maplewood music slips signed and returned ASAP!

Mrs. Tegge was gone at a training all day so we had a substitute teacher. Miss Nussbaum taught the whole day. The day went pretty well (-: We had to switch our afternoon around so that we could have time in the computer lab to work on our writing.

Happy New Year!!! I hope that all of you had a great winter break! The semester is almost over so we are busy finishing up things for report cards. Miss Nussbaum's last day is Jan. 21st-the end of the 1st semester.

Spelling: 5 cursive sentences checked and signed by an adult due tomorrow.

Other:
Patrols put belts and supplies back in lockers for Mrs. Hesselman's class to use in January.
